An End, But the Moment Has Been Prepared For...

WARNING: CONTAINS A FEW SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE END OF TIME PARTS ONE AND TWO.

Yesterday marked the end of an era, and the beginning of what is hopefully a new and even better one.

David Tennant made his final journey in the Tardis as The Doctor, in what Russell T. Davies claimed was an epic, although to be honest although it was a fine send off it wasn't quite as epic as it could have been. I loved the way the Time Lords returned, and they came back as the awesome powerful beings that we saw in The War Games but they were too quickly dispatched and it would have been far more interesting to have them back for good, not necessarily as a force for evil, but at least as a source of conflict for The Doctor. There was a massive amount of self indulgence on the part of Russell T. Davies, but I can forgive him this on his final episode because he has taken a series largely forgotten or seen as a joke outside core fandom, and made it the BBC's flagship show. Special mention should go to Bernard Cribbins who, as per usual was superb. Why this man doesn't have a knighthood is beyond me.

One of the reasons we are still watching this series after 46 years is because you can replace all the actors, all the production team but still have enough constants within the premise to carry on. For this reason I'm not sad about the huge changes in store for the show, I look forward to them, and if I don't like them, well, I guess it will be all change again some time in the not too distant future.

So, where to now for the good Doctor? The trailer shown at the end of Doctor Who Confidential and available from the BBC Doctor Who Homepage looks great. I hope the fans that Tennant brought on board will both embrace and enjoy Matt Smith.

I'll leave you with a couple of pieces of artwork I first posted in the Gallifrey Base forum. The first is what I would like to see as a Doctor Who logo the second is my "fix" of the new logo which I'm not overly keen on.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is it, 2010!!!! and this year I shall be blogging... ...but I shall be doing a little more than that. It is my intention that all the blog posts will be accompanied by some sort of artwork, so, to start off this first post, a shiny new header.

Hopefully this blog will be as exciting as sharks with laser eyes fighting flying saucers. I can but Try.

Happy new year and keep 'em peeled!
